April 24-May 1
May 1-8
The following weeks include: Exceptional ranch riding for all level riders because we need to cover a variety of necessary areas. The ranch activities range from riding for cattle, cattle round ups, cattle drives, daily horse wrangling from the range pasture and horse drives! When riding for cattle we spit up into small groups to cover separate necessary areas for the day. Each group will gather and roundup their own cattle herds and drive them to a central location where all the cattle will eventually join together forming one large herd. We'll build a branding fire and take a break for dinner. After that the hands on cattle working activities begin! We'll rope calves depending on the season to brand, ear tag, doctor, vaccinate, dehorn or castrate. When grass is ready it's time to change pasture locations. We then mother up and cut out cow/calf pairs from the herd and drive cattle to the new range pasture location. We also drive cattle up to our forest mountain permit area early July. Any strays found will be driven back to their proper range pasture location.
